Red Riding Hood was waiting to walk you to school. Write a story about your adventure on the way to school. |
On a crisp, October morning, I opened my front door and noticed
a little
girl in a red parka waiting on my porch. “Good morning,” she
prompted. “Can
you help me find the way to school?” I nodded and told her to
walk with me.
When we got to the end of the sidewalk, something strange happened.
The
street disappeared and a green forest appeared.
In a flash, we were walking down a straw-covered path. Birds
were
singing overhead. The sunlight shone down through the trees.
The little girl
told me that she was visiting her sick grandmother for a few weeks.
I noticed
that she had a huge lunchbox. “It may take us longer than
usual to get go
school this morning,” I announced.
Suddenly, I heard a low growl behind us. “What’s that?”
I questioned. A
dark creature lurked behind one of the trees. We started walking
faster. Out
of the corner of my eye, I caught a glimpse of the stalker. I
rubbed my eyes
and looked again. I couldn’t believe what I saw. It was
a wolf! But it wasn’t a
regular looking wolf. It was a cartoon wolf!
All at once, the wolf lunged toward us. Little Red screamed.
I grabbed
her lunchbox and bonked the wolf on the head. A loud “BOING”
filled the air.
He fell back and disappeared in a puff of smoke.
In the blink of an eye, the little girl disappeared too.
So had the forest.
Immediately, I was standing in front of my school. The tardy
bell rang as I
plopped down in my seat. I felt confused and excited at the same
time. My
heart was still beating as I pulled my math book out of my bookbag.
A small
book of fairy tales dropped in the floor. Had the whole adventure
been real or
just my imagination?
